Every year in December, the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Morteau transforms into a warm and magical Christmas village. The Morteau Christmas Market offers an immersion into the festive spirit, with its decorated wooden chalets, sparkling lights, and the scents of mulled wine and delicacies.

Local Crafts and Delicacies

The market stands out for its local focus and the quality of its exhibitors. Two distinct areas are set up on the square: one dedicated to local creations and crafts — jewelry, candles, decorations, wooden toys — and the other to delicacies prepared by local associations from the Val de Morteau. You'll find Haut-Doubs specialties: Morteau sausages, cheeses, gingerbread, artisanal sweets.

Magical Entertainment for Everyone

The Christmas festivities program in Morteau goes far beyond just the market. An ice rink is set up for the delight of children and adults. The elf walk, a magical route through the town streets, invites you to discover an enchanted world. Free cinema screenings are offered, as well as concerts and daily entertainment.

The highlight of the festivities, a monumental projection on the theme of watchmaking — the result of a Franco-Swiss collaboration — illuminates the town's facades in a breathtaking sound and light show, recalling the rich watchmaking heritage of Haut-Doubs.

The Morteau Christmas Market runs for nearly a month, from early December to the end of the month, allowing everyone to enjoy the festive atmosphere at their own pace. The food chalets welcome visitors with mulled wine, hot chocolate, and seasonal specialties in a friendly atmosphere typical of Haut-Doubs.
