An enchanting Christmas village in the heart of Southern Touraine
The Christmas Village of Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine transforms the Place du Maréchal Leclerc into a magical place each year with its snow-flocked chalets, decorated fir trees, and illuminated ice rink. For a weekend in December, about twenty chalets host local merchants, artisans, and producers offering gifts, jewelry, local products, and gourmet specialties. The program includes creative workshops, musical parades, storytelling, street performances, and activities for children, all in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Each year in December, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, a famous city for its AOP goat cheese, transforms into an enchanting Christmas village. The Place du Maréchal Leclerc, in the heart of this historic small town in Southern Touraine, hosts a magical winter setting with snow-flocked fir trees, wooden chalets, illuminations, and an ice rink for the pleasure of young and old.
About twenty wooden chalets house local merchants, artisans, and producers. Visitors can find original gift ideas: handmade jewelry, decorative objects, textiles, scented candles, and unique creations. The gourmet section highlights the specialties of the Touraine region, including of course the famous Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine AOP cheese, but also sweets, chocolates, honeys, and other sweet and savory delights.
The Christmas Village program is full of activities for the whole family. Creative workshops allow children to make their own Christmas decorations. Musical parades and storytelling liven up the market aisles, while street performances surprise visitors around the chalets. The illuminated ice rink is one of the main attractions, offering a moment of skating and laughter for the whole family.
The atmosphere of the Christmas Village is intended to be warm and friendly. Visitors can enjoy seasonal treats on-site: mulled wine, hot chocolate, crepes, waffles, roasted chestnuts, and other comforting specialties. Neighboring shops on the square also participate in the event by opening their doors on the weekend to extend the festive experience.
Organized by the Town Hall of Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, the Christmas Village has become over the years an unmissable event in local life, bringing together residents and visitors in a spirit of sharing and celebration. The event contributes to the commercial and tourist dynamism of this small town of character, gateway to Southern Touraine.
