The largest Easter market in Alsace at the foot of the Grand Ballon
For thirty years, the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Guebwiller has transformed into a true little Easter village for Palm Sunday weekend and the Easter week. Seventy exhibitors - artisans, creators, and producers - offer Easter decorations, creations in wood, wool, textiles, handmade jewelry, chocolates, jams, and honey. Creative workshops, a petting zoo, musical entertainment, and mini tractor races make this spring event an unmissable family gathering in the Haut-Rhin.
The Guebwiller Easter Market is one of the oldest and most important Easter markets in Alsace. Created in the 1990s, it celebrates its thirtieth edition in 2026, demonstrating the attachment of Guebwiller residents and visitors to this spring tradition. Each year, the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, dominated by the elegant neoclassical facade of the town hall and framed by the historic buildings of the city center, is adorned with bright colors and Easter decorations to host this festive event that announces the return of spring in Alsace.
The market brings together seventy carefully selected exhibitors, mixing local artisans, creators, and producers. The stalls are full of artisanal Easter decorations: hand-painted eggs, ceramic rabbits, textile hens, spring wreaths, and floral arrangements. Creators offer objects made of turned wood, merino wool, textiles, handmade jewelry, paintings, and scented candles. For sweet treats, artisanal chocolates, jams, honey, Alsatian pastries, and donkey milk products will delight visitors' taste buds.
The Guebwiller Easter Market stands out for its rich family activities. A petting zoo delights children with its chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, and pygmy goats. Easter creative workshops, led by local artisans, allow both children and adults to create their own decorations. Fabric creation workshops and floral workshops with local florists complete this fun and creative offering.
A highlight of the market, Children's Day, now in its third edition, transforms the square into a space of joy and discovery. A mini dance party with the Easter Bunny, a festive photobooth, and the singing contest "Elsass Voice Kids" make this afternoon an unforgettable moment for families. Mini tractor and balance bike races in the square add a sporty and playful touch that delights the youngest.
Guebwiller, a sub-prefecture of the Haut-Rhin, is a town with a remarkable architectural heritage nestled at the entrance to the Florival valley, at the foot of the Grand Ballon, the highest point of the Vosges. The town has three churches listed as historical monuments: the Collégiale Notre-Dame, a masterpiece of Alsatian neoclassicism, the Church of Saint-Léger, a gem of late Romanesque art, and the Dominican Church, a venue for prestigious concerts. The Easter market is part of the spring renewal of this cultural city, following the carnival festivities and before summer events like "Un Été au Couvent" at the Wesserling park.
The 30th edition of the Guebwiller Easter Market will be held from March 27 to April 6, 2026, on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. Seventy exhibitors will offer Easter decorations, artisanal creations, and gourmet treats. Creative workshops, a petting zoo, tractor races, and Children's Day will animate this spring event.
Guebwiller is located 25 km northwest of Mulhouse and 40 km south of Colmar, at the foot of the Grand Ballon des Vosges.
