About Muralis

Muralis is a street art festival organized by the Kalos collective in the city of Dax since 2019. This urban art festival focuses on three main areas: monumental artistic creations, cultural events, and mediation with residents and local partners. Artists from all backgrounds take over the city walls to create large-scale murals. In six editions, over 28 artists have used more than 200 liters of paint and 330 spray cans to cover over 1,000 m² of walls, transforming Dax into a true open-air museum.

Muralis: When Street Art Transforms Dax

Since 2019, the Kalos collective has been orchestrating Muralis, a street art festival that is progressively transforming the walls of Dax. Far from ephemeral interventions, Muralis permanently embeds urban art into the landscape of the Landes spa town, creating a route of monumental murals that enriches the city's visual heritage each year.

A Multi-Dimensional Festival

Muralis is not just about creating murals. The festival is organized around three complementary axes:

  • Artistic Creations: Street artists from all backgrounds take over the city walls to create monumental murals, blending traditional graffiti techniques with contemporary mural art approaches.
  • Cultural Events: Openings, screenings, discovery workshops, guided tours of the street art route, and conferences punctuate the festival.
  • Mediation: Each project is part of a dialogue with residents, shopkeepers, and local partners, ensuring collective ownership of the works.

Impressive Figures

In six editions, Muralis has mobilized over 28 street artists who have used more than 200 liters of paint and 330 spray cans to cover over 1,000 m² of wall surface. The city of Dax now boasts over 24 permanent street art works, freely accessible all year round.

A Permanent Street Art Trail

The murals created during the festival remain visible all year round, forming a street art trail that visitors can discover on foot in the city center of Dax and in Saint-Paul-lès-Dax. A map is available on the muralis.city website to guide walkers from one artwork to another, making every stroll an artistic experience.

The Kalos Collective

Founded in 1985, the Kalos collective brings together figures from the art world committed to promoting urban art. Artistic coordination is managed by Yuliia Darbo, and Julien Blanc serves as treasurer and patron of the collective. Kalos works in close collaboration with the city of Dax, social housing providers, and local cultural stakeholders.

Muralis — edition 2026

The 7th edition of Muralis in 2026 will continue to enrich Dax's street art heritage with new monumental mural creations and cultural events throughout the year.

7th Edition — 2026

Muralis returns in 2026 for its 7th edition. The Kalos collective will continue its work of artistic transformation in Dax with new monumental mural creations, workshops, guided tours, and cultural events. Dates for upcoming interventions will be announced on muralis.city.
