About Music Festival in Valence
Every June 21, Valence celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, music school students, and established artists perform for free in the squares and streets of the city center. Organized by the City of Valence in partnership with local businesses and associations, the evening is entirely free and blends all genres, from classical to rock, from chanson to hip-hop.
The Fête de la Musique in Valence
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the center of Valence into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until the heart of the night, in all styles and for all audiences.
A celebration throughout the city center
Usually, the City of Valence sets up several official stages in the city center — notably around the Fontaine Monumentale and Place de la Gare — to which are added a dance stage in Place de la Liberté and a piano stage in the courtyard of the Musée de Valence, animated by the association Les Amateurs virtuoses. Businesses and bars in the center extend the celebration by offering their own concerts and DJ sets in the surrounding squares and streets, from classical to funk, from French chanson to world music.

Usually, the festival unfolds for free in the city center of Valence: official city stages around the Fontaine Monumentale and Place de la Gare, a dance stage at Place de la Liberté, a piano stage in the courtyard of the Musée de Valence with Les Amateurs virtuoses, and numerous concerts offered by shopkeepers and bars in the squares and streets of the center, until late in the evening.
