Nocturnàlia: Magical Nights at the Marquèze Eco-museum

The Nocturnàlia at Marquèze are exceptional evening shows organized during the summer in the heart of the Écomusée de Marquèze, in Sabres, in the Landes de Gascogne. These night events invite the public to live a unique immersive experience, mixing live performance, heritage, and nature in a preserved and enchanting setting.

A Timeless Place

The Écomusée de Marquèze, founded in 1970 and managed by the Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne, is one of the very first eco-museums created in France. Nestled in the Landes forest, accessible only by a little train from Sabres station, it reconstructs a traditional district of the Grande Lande in the 19th century, with its half-timbered houses, barns, bread oven, and airial—the grassy clearing that served as the heart of village life.

Shows Under the Stars

Nocturnàlia offers an original and demanding artistic program. Each evening offers a unique perspective on life, exploring the links between humans, nature, and the Landes heritage. The shows can take various forms: concerts mixing world music and local traditions, theater with masks and large puppets, interactive performances with nature sounds, psychedelic balls that are both local and tropical, and poetic creations celebrating the Gascon language.

The Raffut Group and the Nocturnàlia Evening

The flagship evening, titled Nocturnàlia, features the group Raffut in a dreamlike and delicate creation, organic and explosive, questioning journeys and identities, languages and angers, in a sensitive and rumbling serenade. This psychedelic ball, at the crossroads of local and tropical, transports the audience on a unique sound journey under the stars of the Grande Lande.

Picnic on the Airial

One of the unique features of Nocturnàlia is the convivial picnic that precedes each show. Visitors are invited to bring their own meal to share on the Marquèze airial, the large clearing in the heart of the eco-museum. This moment of conviviality, with friends or family, allows you to enjoy the gentle evening and the unique atmosphere of the place before the show.

A Journey by Little Train

Access to Marquèze is exclusively by the eco-museum's little train, which departs from Sabres station. On the evenings of the night events, special departures are organized in the late afternoon (6:30 PM and 7:30 PM), with returns after the show (10:30 PM and 11:30 PM). This train journey through the pine forest adds a magical dimension to the experience.
