Bondy's summer popular festival on the banks of the Ourcq canal
Bondy, a town of 55,000 inhabitants bordered by the Ourcq canal, organizes its grand popular festival every summer in an exceptional natural setting. Water is at the heart of Bondy's identity, and it is only natural that the festivities revolve around this landscape axis that crosses the town from north to south.
The festival brings together several thousand residents in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere, with a program designed to appeal to all generations. It is the result of close collaboration between the town hall, local associations, and the territory's sports and cultural stakeholders.
One of the highlights of the Fête de Bondy is the promotion of the Ourcq canal and the water sports practiced there. As part of the Été du Canal project, a temporary water sports center is set up along the canal to allow residents to discover paddleboarding, kayaking, pedal boating, and water navigation for free. A mist maze, an aquatic trampoline, and rope courses complete this fun aquatic offering, particularly popular with children and teenagers.
These activities are part of the town's policy to promote the Ourcq canal as a leisure and well-being space accessible to all. The recently developed Zac de l'Ourcq offers a contemporary and pleasant setting for these festivities.
The festival offers an eclectic artistic program, with open-air concerts covering a wide musical spectrum: world music, jazz, reggae, urban music, and popular hits follow one another on the main stage. Street performers—acrobats, jugglers, comedians—take over public spaces to offer spontaneous and interactive shows.
Children's entertainment completes the program: puppet shows, creative workshops, pony rides, inflatable structures, and circus activities ensure the entertainment of the youngest.
The town of Bondy, a pioneer in urban agriculture, integrates this theme into its summer festival. The 48h de l'Agriculture Urbaine (48 hours of Urban Agriculture) highlights community gardens and citizen initiatives around sustainable food. Tastings of fruits and vegetables grown in the city, composting workshops, and environmental awareness conferences coexist with the usual food stalls, for a festival that is both festive and committed.
The Fête de Bondy once again takes over the banks of the Ourcq canal for the summer of 2026. The Zac de l'Ourcq and the Chemin de Halage will host a festive and educational program for all generations throughout July and August.
The water sports center will offer free introductory water sports, while open-air concerts, family activities, and initiatives around urban agriculture will liven up the canal banks in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
