The Paradox Festival is an event of electronic music and visual arts that takes over the Château de Saint-Michel-de-Boulogne, a remarkable heritage site located in the heart of southern Ardèche. Since its first edition in 2009, this festival has offered a unique immersive experience, blending musical performances and visual creations within the preserved ruins of the medieval castle.
The Château de Boulogne, built in the 12th century and listed as a historical monument, provides a spectacular setting for the festival. Its stone walls, towers, and open spaces overlooking the Ardèche landscape are transformed into a total performance venue for the duration of the festival, where monumental projections by Kolectif Alambic and videos by Nymphicus Production adorn the medieval architecture, creating a striking dialogue between ancient heritage and contemporary creation.
The musical programming of the Paradox Festival is distinguished by its commitment to mixing emerging artists and recognized names from the French and international electronic scene. Over more than 16 hours of live music per edition, the festival offers an ambitious and poetic sound journey, oscillating between experimental projects and more popular sets. Techno, ambient, house, electronica, and audiovisual performances follow one another in a unique atmosphere.
The festival is driven by the association Deltabar Production, founded in 2005, which brings together professional players in the cultural landscape of southern Ardèche. The collective develops original projects, attentive to contemporary creation and the cross-pollination of artistic disciplines. Beyond the Paradox Festival, Deltabar Production works year-round to promote culture and the arts in the Ardèche region.
The Paradox Festival traditionally takes place every two years, at the beginning of August, over two evenings. This biennial format allows the organizing team to prepare each edition with care, offering a renewed and ambitious musical and visual program. Five editions have been held between 2009 and 2016, making the Paradox Festival a highly anticipated event on the electronic music scene in Ardèche.
