Eclectic and solidarity festival in Broût-Vernet in the Allier
Rock Preserv' is a contemporary music festival created in 1992 by the association Galib'art in Broût-Vernet, in the Allier. A musical and humanitarian event, it combines an eclectic program - from rock to reggae, ska, dub, and electro-jazz - and solidarity commitment in the fight against AIDS and for the integration of people with disabilities. With 3 stages, 300 volunteers, and over 15,000 visitors per edition, Rock Preserv' has become one of the largest festivals in Auvergne.
In 1992, a handful of young rural residents from Bourbonnais, dreaming of more accessible culture far from major cities, founded the association Galib'art and organized the first edition of Rock Preserv' in Broût-Vernet, a small commune in the Allier. From the outset, the festival had a dual ambition: to make the countryside vibrate with the sounds of contemporary music and to commit concretely to the fight against AIDS. A prevention village is set up each year on the site to defend various humanitarian causes and promote the integration of people with disabilities.
The richness of Rock Preserv' lies in the diversity of its musical programming. On three stages - including a regional stage dedicated to emerging talents from the area - artists covering an exceptionally wide musical spectrum perform for two to three days: from hardcore to the most subtle rock, including electro-jazz, dub, reggae, gypsy jazz, and ska. Over its more than thirty editions, the festival has hosted nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Sepultura, Raggasonic, Sanseverino, Caravan Palace, Le Peuple de l'Herbe, Mouss et Hakim, and Banane Metalik.
Rock Preserv' perfectly embodies the ability of rural areas to create large-scale cultural events. Coordinated by 300 volunteers and attracting over 15,000 visitors each year, the festival has become a true pillar of cultural life in the Allier and Auvergne. The festival site, set up on the chemin des Persières in a green and rural setting, offers a particularly pleasant natural space to enjoy the concerts.
The festival also hosts international youth volunteer workcamps, fostering intercultural exchange and strengthening its solidarity dimension. Rock Preserv' aims to be a link between today's music, conviviality, tolerance, and mutual aid, while directly combating the rural depopulation that threatens these areas.
Since 1992, Rock Preserv' has continued to grow and reinvent itself. From the single stage at the beginning to the current configuration with three simultaneous platforms, the festival has evolved while preserving the spirit of its origins: that of a popular, committed event rooted in its territory. Each edition is an opportunity to renew the programming while welcoming a loyal intergenerational audience from all over the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and beyond.
The Rock Preserv' festival takes place at chemin des Persières, 03110 Broût-Vernet, in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Food stalls and bars are available on the festival site throughout the event.
An associative and prevention village is set up on the site, offering awareness-raising actions for the fight against AIDS and for the integration of people with disabilities.
