The unmissable literary event of the Cotentin
Since 2003, the association La Note Bleue has organized the Salon du Livre des Pieux every spring, which has become over the years one of the most popular literary events in the Manche department. Hosted at the Espace culturel Le Podium, on the allée de la Fosse, this friendly fair highlights the diversity of literary creation by inviting regional and national authors, illustrators, independent publishers, and book lovers.
The fair takes place over a full weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, and offers an eclectic program. The Friday opening evening is traditionally dedicated to a thematic conference open to the public, covering various subjects from local history to spirituality. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can browse the stands of the present authors, attend round tables led by renowned writers, and participate in creative workshops for young audiences.
The Salon du Livre des Pieux gives a special place to authors from the Cotentin and Normandy regions, highlighting the links between literature and the territory. The round tables regularly explore themes related to Norman identity, maritime heritage, or the careers of writers attached to the Cotentin peninsula. The event benefits from the support of the town hall of Les Pieux and numerous volunteers who contribute to its warm and family-friendly atmosphere.
Admission to the fair is completely free, in line with the association La Note Bleue's commitment to making culture accessible to as many people as possible. Drawing and writing workshops are offered to children, while adults can freely interact with the present authors, discover new voices, and leave with signed books. The friendly atmosphere of the fair makes it a special moment of sharing around the common passion for words and reading.
The Salon du Livre des Pieux returns for its 24th edition from March 6 to 8, 2026, at the Espace culturel Le Podium. The literary weekend will begin on Friday evening with a conference on mediumship and the Tarot of Marseille led by David and Vincent Fontaine.
On Saturday afternoon, a round table will host YC Le Roy, former deputy director of the judicial police turned author, for a discussion on crime novels. Sunday will feature the presence of Cherbourg author Alexis Salatko, who will discuss his literary ties to the Cotentin. A drawing workshop "Cute Japanese Objects" will be offered to children aged 6 to 11.
