Samoëns American Festival: America at the foot of Mont-Blanc

The Samoëns American Festival (SAF) was born from the passion of a group of Samouïns — the name given to the inhabitants of Samoëns — for American culture and country music. Since its creation, the festival has continued to grow, evolving from a niche event to a major gathering that makes the village vibrate for four days every late June.

Samoëns, classified among the "Pays d'art et d'histoire" (Towns and Cities of Art and History), offers a picturesque and unexpected setting for a celebration of America. The village streets, lined with wooden-balconied houses and ancient fountains, transform into a Western backdrop where cowboys, country dancers, and American motorcycle enthusiasts mingle.

Four Days of Festivities

The SAF program is dense and varied, catering to all audiences:

Country Music

Country music concerts liven up the festival evenings, featuring bands and artists from France and beyond. Country music in all its forms — traditional, new country, country rock — resonates through the streets and on the main stage.

Dancing

Line dance and country dance workshops are a cornerstone of the festival. Classes for all levels are offered throughout the weekend, culminating in a grand country ball. Dance workshops require paid registration.

Shows and Activities

The festival also features equestrian shows, a far-west village with activities for children, a craft market, American food stalls, and an impressive gathering of American civilian and military vehicles — Harley-Davidsons, Jeeps, pick-up trucks, and vintage cars.

One of the strengths of the Samoëns American Festival is its free admission: access to concerts, shows, and activities is open and free. Only the dance workshops require paid registration. This open policy contributes to the warm and inclusive atmosphere of the event, which attracts families, country music fans, and curious visitors from all walks of life each year.
