Les Lumières de Noël: Albertville Shines in the Heart of the Alps
Every winter, the town of Albertville adorns itself with its most beautiful luminous attire to host Les Lumières de Noël, a festive event that spans nearly a month, from the first Saturday in December to early January. This unmissable date in the Savoyard festivities calendar transforms the town center into a true Christmas village, blending high-quality shows, activities, and light installations.
Video Mapping: The Technological Jewel of Les Lumières de Noël
The highlight of the event is undoubtedly the video mapping projected onto the Dome of Place de l'Europe, specially created to fit the rounded shapes of this emblematic Albertville building. In 2025, the show titled "The Magic of Lights", produced by Lumen Créations, enchanted spectators during four performances on December 20th (6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, and 7:30 PM). This fifteen-minute immersive show plunges the audience into a magical universe where light, sound, and images interact on the Dome's facade.
A Rich Program of Activities
Beyond the mapping, Les Lumières de Noël offers a dense and varied program:
- Pyrotechnic Parade: on the inauguration evening, a fire procession connects Place du Commandant Bulle to the Town Hall, crossing Rue de la République and Rue Gambetta.
- Dance and Street Shows: in 2025, the show "The 5 Kingdoms of Christmas Magic" animated the town center on December 13th.
- Snow and Ice Park: located in front of the Town Hall, it offers an ice rink, a sledding slope, and winter treats.
- Santa Claus's House: Santa Claus makes several appearances, sometimes in a carriage through the streets, sometimes in his specially arranged house.
- Magic Shop Windows: shopkeepers on Rue Gambetta participate in the event by decorating their windows in a magical way.
A Unifying Event for the Entire Region
Les Lumières de Noël in Albertville extends far beyond the municipality, attracting visitors from all over Tarentaise and Savoie. The event is entirely free on the opening weekend, and most activities are free to access, making it a truly popular and accessible event for everyone. The Snow and Ice Park offers activities for children aged 6 and up, while the street shows and video mapping are aimed at all audiences.
