About iF3 Chamonix
iF3 Chamonix is the French stop of the iF3 (International Freeride Film Festival), a film festival dedicated to freeride skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking. Founded in 2007 in Montreal, iF3 now tours several cities around the world—including Santiago, Montreal, Whistler, and Chamonix—and settles into the Cinéma Vox each winter to kick off the snow sports season with a selection of international films.

The 2026 edition of iF3 Chamonix takes place from December 4th to 6th at the Cinéma Vox, marking the start of the winter season. As in previous years, the event brings together screenings of freeride ski and snowboard films, meet-and-greets with athletes, and an awards ceremony judged by a panel of mountain professionals.

The festival is held at the Cinéma Vox, 22 Cour du Bartavel, 74400 Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The Chamonix train station is just a few minutes' walk from the cinema.
A festival born in Montreal, now global
The iF3 (International Freeride Film Festival) was founded in 2007 in Montreal by three key figures in the ski industry: photographer Félix Rioux, Newschoolers editor Doug Bishop, and Jean-Francis Durocher of Bite Size Entertainment. The festival expanded its competition to include snowboarding in 2017 and mountain biking in 2021, while branching out to other cities such as Whistler, Innsbruck, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Santiago.
iF3 in Chamonix since 2021
The French leg of the tour arrived in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in 2021 at the Cinéma Vox, organized by SAS CinéCimes. Each edition showcases a selection of films across three categories—ski, snowboard, and open (freestyle, backcountry, telemark, mountaineering, adventure, and documentary)—with awards presented by a jury of athletes, directors, and mountain photographers. The screening evenings are punctuated by meet-and-greets with athletes and special sessions dedicated to specific films or sports personalities.
