The first festival in the Gier valley, created to showcase local musicians
St Jo Festiv' is the first music festival in the Gier valley, organized in Saint-Joseph (Loire) by the association UDAM Saint Jo (Union des Associations et du Matériel de Saint Joseph). Created in 2023, this outdoor festival aims to promote local artists by having them play as opening acts for well-known national artists. Driven by passionate volunteers, St Jo Festiv' offers a quality show at an attractive and accessible entrance price, highlighting the commune of Saint-Joseph, its associations, and its inhabitants.
Born in 2023 from the will of a handful of enthusiasts, St Jo Festiv' is the very first music festival in the Gier valley, in the Loire department. Supported by UDAM Saint Jo (Union des Associations et du Matériel de Saint Joseph), an association created in 2022, the festival has a clear mission: to showcase musicians from the Gier valley by offering them a stage in front of a large audience, alongside nationally recognized artists.
St Jo Festiv' embodies a spirit of popular and participatory celebration. The event is entirely organized by volunteers from local associations in Saint-Joseph and the Gier valley. The festival offers attractive and accessible prices — 15 euros for the day, free for children under 12 — allowing as many people as possible to enjoy three days of open-air concerts.
On the festival site, festival-goers will find various food stalls and food trucks, as well as a bar. The atmosphere is friendly and family-oriented, in an open-air setting in the heart of the commune of Saint-Joseph.
The St Jo Festiv' program is based on an original concept: each evening features one or more artists from the Gier valley as opening acts, followed by national headliners. Rock, pop, French chanson, punk, ska: musical styles cross and mix to offer an eclectic and festive program. The inaugural 2023 edition notably hosted Les Hurlements d'Léo, a key figure in French festive chanson, Les Tit' Nassels, Climaxx, Marion Roch, Lola Baye, and several local bands.
Located between Saint-Étienne and Lyon, the commune of Saint-Joseph (42800) is easily accessible via the A47 motorway. The festival contributes to the influence of this commune in the Gier valley and highlights the richness of the local associative fabric. In just a few editions, St Jo Festiv' has established itself as an anticipated summer event in the Loire, proving that the passion for music and volunteer commitment can give birth to a unifying and popular event.
