Traditional autumn products fair in Pavezin
The Chestnut and Walnut Fair is an unmissable autumn event in the Pilat region of the Loire, organized every year on the third Sunday of October in Pavezin, in the Loire. Supported by the Maranch'Loisirs association and the ASSCP (Association Sportive Sainte-Croix Pavezin), this friendly fair brings together many exhibitors offering local artisanal and regional products. The famous "saucisse à la grappe" (grape sausage), prepared by volunteers and served in the La Galoche hall, makes the event renowned. Activities for children and adults, a refreshment stand, and catering complete this festive outdoor day, open to all and free of charge.
Every year, on the third Sunday of October, the small village of Pavezin, nestled in the heights of the Parc naturel régional du Pilat, hosts the Chestnut and Walnut Fair. This festive and gourmet event celebrates the emblematic fruits of autumn and the know-how of local producers.
The fair brings together numerous exhibitors from the Loire and neighboring departments, offering a wide range of products:
This diversity makes the fair a prime location for discovering and purchasing quality products directly from producers and artisans.
The fair's great specialty is the "saucisse à la grappe", carefully prepared by the volunteers of the Maranch'Loisirs association and served in the La Galoche hall. This generous and flavorful dish, served with potatoes, has become the gastronomic symbol of the event over the years and attracts food lovers from all over the region.
The Chestnut and Walnut Fair is not limited to the market. Throughout the day, a variety of activities are offered:
Pavezin, perched at over 700 meters above sea level on the foothills of the Pilat, offers a remarkable natural setting for this autumn fair. The chestnut and walnut trees that populate the surroundings recall the historical importance of these crops in the local economy. The fair takes place outdoors, in the parking lot and surroundings of the La Galoche hall, in the heart of the village.
The fair is the result of collaboration between two dynamic local associations: the Maranch'Loisirs association, which handles general organization and catering, and the ASSCP (Association Sportive Sainte-Croix Pavezin), the local football club, which manages the refreshment stand and snacks. This associative synergy demonstrates the vitality of community life in Pavezin and surrounding towns.
