Soirées d'Été de Carmaux: four free musical events across the city

Every summer, the City of Carmaux invites residents and visitors to the Soirées d'Été, a free event that has become a local staple. Over four Wednesdays in July, several iconic locations around the city host open-air concerts, offering an eclectic program in a friendly, family-oriented setting.

The Soirées d'Été invite the public to rediscover Carmaux through various public spaces, each offering a unique atmosphere:

At each event, a refreshment bar and food trucks are available on-site so you can grab a bite and fully enjoy the evening.

A varied musical program

The Soirées d'Été showcase musical styles for every taste:

• Aged in Barrels, with their Celtic sounds.
• Rock en Stock, revisiting the great rock classics.
• Happy Devil's, a blues duo reinventing the worlds of Eric Bibb, Jimi Hendrix, Brother Dege, and Tom Waits.
• La Ruta Salsa, for a festive evening of Latin rhythms.

The program highlights local and regional artists while introducing audiences to a variety of musical styles.

Carmaux, a city of history and working-class culture

Carmaux is a town of 10,000 inhabitants in the north of the Tarn department, deeply marked by its mining past. Coal mines operated here for nearly three centuries, shaping a strong working-class identity and a popular culture rooted in solidarity and conviviality. Jean Jaurès, a figurehead of French socialism, began his political career here by defending striking miners.

This working-class history gives the Soirées d'Été a special meaning: popular music that is accessible to all, free, and held outdoors, fully aligns with this tradition of shared, open culture. The MuséoParc Verrerie Ouvrière, which bears witness to the city's glassmaking past, and the Stained Glass Museum are also cultural assets that enrich Carmaux's summer offerings.
