The essential agricultural event of Berry

Terre en Fête is one of the largest agricultural and festive events in the Indre department. Organized every year in August on the Bellevue la Belletière grounds, on the outskirts of Châtillon-sur-Indre towards Le Blanc, this event brings together farmers, agricultural machinery enthusiasts, and families for two days to celebrate the rural world.

Moiss'Batt'Cross, the star attraction

The main attraction of Terre en Fête is undoubtedly the Moiss'Batt'Cross, spectacular races of specially modified vintage combine harvesters for competition. These impressive machines compete on a track set up in the fields, offering spectators a unique show combining adrenaline, humor, and mechanical passion. Demonstrations and races follow one another throughout the weekend, punctuated by "traine-cul" (a type of tractor race) and passenger rides for the bravest.

Plowing competitions and agricultural know-how

The festival also hosts a cantonal plowing competition bringing together the best plowmen in the region, as well as an old-fashioned plowing competition with vintage tractors and tools. Sheepdog demonstrations showcase the intelligence and training of these essential companions of the shepherd, while straw bale throwing competitions test the strength and skill of the participants.

Farmers' market and local gastronomy

On Sunday morning, a farmers' market allows visitors to discover and taste products from the Berrichon terroir: goat cheeses, honey, charcuterie, seasonal vegetables, and other local specialties. Country meals are served on Saturday evening (barbecued pork) and Sunday lunchtime and evening, with generous menus based on local products.

Activities for the whole family

Terre en Fête also offers a hangar sale where individuals can sell used agricultural and gardening equipment, carousels and games for children, exhibitions of old and modern equipment, as well as dancing evenings hosted by musette bands and DJs. The fanfare of Saint-Genou accompanies the festivities throughout the weekend.
