The biennial meeting for ecology and local producers in Brenne
The Éco Festival of Clion-sur-Indre is a biennial event dedicated to ecology, responsible food, and short supply chains. Organized by the association Le Panier Fermier 36 on the Clion fairground, it brings together about thirty regional producers, environmental specialist speakers, and numerous participatory workshops. Each edition explores a theme related to ecology: water quality, the content of our plates, biodiversity. Free and open to all, this friendly festival also offers nature walks, storytelling, a folk dance, and an eco-bar with local products.
Born in 2010 on the initiative of the association Défense des Milieux Naturels, the Éco Festival of Clion-sur-Indre was taken over in 2013 by the association Le Panier Fermier 36, which has organized it every two years since then on the Clion-sur-Indre fairground, in the heart of Châtillonnais in Berry. This free and friendly festival aims to raise awareness about ecology, food transition, and the preservation of local biodiversity.
Each edition of the Éco Festival explores a strong theme related to current environmental issues. Among the themes addressed: "Tap water", "What's on my plate?", "The festival of possibilities". Renowned speakers intervene to enlighten visitors on various subjects: the return of the wolf in France, the preservation of biodiversity, wild bees, organic farming, and food alternatives.
The heart of the festival beats to the rhythm of regional producers. About thirty exhibitors offer their products for direct sale: organic vegetables, goat cheeses, Berry wines, farm-raised meats, honeys, jams, and artisanal processed products. The eco-bar, open all day, offers local and organic drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. It's an opportunity for visitors to discover the riches of the Berry terroir while supporting local agriculture.
The Éco Festival offers a rich program of practical and fun workshops for all ages: wood turning, making insect hotels and bat boxes, creating seed bombs, introduction to basket weaving, qi-gong demonstrations. Storytelling nature walks allow visitors to discover local fauna and flora with naturalist guides. Children enjoy specific activities adapted to their age.
The festive atmosphere is ensured by storytellers, live performance companies, and a folk dance at the end of the day. The screening of a documentary film in the evening opens the festival the day before, inviting spectators to reflect on contemporary ecological issues. The Éco Festival of Clion is thus a place for meetings, exchanges, and conviviality where everyone can get informed, learn, and have fun in an eco-responsible spirit.
