A Christmas village in the heart of Châteauroux

Since 2024, Noël à Châteauroux has taken on a new dimension with the installation of a real Christmas village on the Place de la République. What started with about forty chalets in the first edition quickly grew to reach a hundred wooden chalets by 2025, bringing together regional producers, artisan creators, and restaurateurs offering local Berry specialties and seasonal treats.

The Christmas market: a gourmet and artisanal space

From December 6th to 24th, the Châteauroux Christmas market invites visitors to stroll among the decorated and illuminated chalets. You can discover Liège waffles, pretzels, Christmas doughnuts, gingerbread, and artisanal chocolates, as well as original creations: soaps, jewelry, knitted scarves, Christmas decorations, and art objects. Local producers offer their specialties: cheeses, foie gras, Berry wines, honeys, and artisanal jams.

The market is open from 11 AM to 7 PM, with late openings on Fridays and Saturdays until 9 PM, offering a magical atmosphere lit by the illuminations.

The Christmas ice rink

From December 6th to January 5th, a temporary ice rink is set up on Place Madeleine Renaud and Jean-Louis Barrault, near Équinoxe. It welcomes young and old for skating sessions in a festive and musical atmosphere. This recreational space has become one of the main attractions of the end-of-year festivities in Châteauroux.

Activities and shows for everyone

Noël à Châteauroux offers a rich and varied program of activities throughout December. Santa Claus is present on several days for photo opportunities and to distribute treats to children. Musical parades, choirs, shows combining humor, acrobatics, and dance, stilt walkers, and mascots animate the streets of the city center.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, face painting workshops for children are offered. Carriage rides allow you to discover the city center's illuminations on Sunday afternoons. Balloon sculptures, International Christmas Sweater Day, and other surprise activities complete the festive program.

A flagship event of Châteauroux Métropole

Organized by Châteauroux Events with the support of Châteauroux Métropole, Noël à Châteauroux has established itself as one of the largest Christmas markets in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The event helps to boost trade in the city center and enhance the tourist appeal of the Indre prefecture during the holiday season.
