Le Petit Trail de Noël

A nocturnal trail in the magic of Christmas

The Petit Trail de Noël was born in 2014 from a simple idea among friends from the athletics club La Berrichonne de Châteauroux: to organize a race in the streets of Châteauroux during the holidays, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Since then, the event has become a must-attend December event in the Indre region, attracting over 1,000 costumed runners each year who set off at dusk through the streets illuminated by Christmas decorations.

An urban course between historic alleys and gardens

The main 7.5 km course (solo or two-person relay) follows a magnificent circuit in two loops through the steep alleys of old Châteauroux, public gardens, and the city's decorated squares. The route highlights the architectural heritage of Châteauroux under magical night lighting. The moderate elevation gain makes the race accessible to everyone, including beginners who want to discover trail running in a friendly atmosphere.

Races for all ages

Alongside the adult trail, the Petit Trail de Noël offers children's races in the afternoon: the Trail des Petits Lutins (1.5 km for ages 2016-2019), the Trail des Lutins (700 m for ages 2014-2015), and the Trail des Grands Lutins (1.8 km for ages 2012-2013). These fun events allow younger participants to experience the magical atmosphere of the Christmas race in a safe and festive setting.

The spirit of Christmas as a common thread

The Petit Trail de Noël is distinguished by its unique festive atmosphere. Christmas costumes are highly encouraged, and the organizers set up a welcome village with mulled wine, music, and entertainment. Eighty volunteers from the La Berrichonne club ensure the event's logistics and safety. The success is such that online registrations are snapped up within hours, demonstrating the enthusiasm of the people of Châteauroux and the region's runners for this event, which has become an end-of-year tradition in Châteauroux.
