A trail starting from a Renaissance castle
The Trail du Château de Valençay offers a unique experience in the landscape of nature races in Centre-Val de Loire. Organized by the association Les Mollets de Gâtine, this event stands out for its exceptional setting: the start and finish are located in the park of the Château de Valençay, former residence of Prince Talleyrand, classified as a Historic Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Loire Valley.
Two routes between vineyards and forests
The trail offers two main distances with evocative names from the castle's history. La Talleyrand (20 km, 250 m of positive elevation gain) takes runners through the vineyards of the AOC Valençay, oak forests, and the hollow paths of Berry. La Duchesse de Dino (7 km, 70 m D+) offers a more accessible but equally picturesque route, ideal for beginners and families. A canicross of 7 km allows enthusiasts to run with their four-legged companions.
Races for the whole family
The Trail du Château de Valençay places great importance on young runners with children's races of 800 m and 1,600 m. These free events allow the youngest to discover the joy of running in a fun and safe environment. The welcome village, set up in the castle park, offers entertainment, refreshments, and a friendly atmosphere for all participants and companions.
An event rooted in local heritage
Beyond the sporting challenge, the Trail du Château de Valençay highlights the natural and architectural heritage of the territory. The routes cross landscapes characteristic of southern Berry: vineyards, meadows, woods, and stone villages. The event benefits from the support of the municipality of Valençay and professional timing by Courir36. With accessible prices (9 euros for the 20 km, 7 euros for the 7 km), it attracts an increasing number of participants each year.
