French gastronomic excellence in the heart of Sologne
The Journées Gastronomiques de Sologne are one of France's most prestigious gastronomic fairs, held annually on the last weekend of October at the Fabrique Normant in Romorantin-Lanthenay, the capital of Sologne. Established in 1978, this national and international event offers high-level culinary competitions, demonstrations by renowned chefs, tastings, and opportunities to meet numerous Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, European, and world champions. Approximately 90 producers and artisans present authentic products from Sologne and beyond: game, freshwater fish, charcuterie, wines, liqueurs, honey, chocolate, and pastries. The event attracts thousands of gastronomy enthusiasts and is a highlight of the Centre-Val de Loire region's culinary calendar.
Established in 1978, the Journées Gastronomiques de Sologne have, in nearly half a century, become one of France's most renowned gastronomic fairs. Held every last weekend of October at the Fabrique Normant in Romorantin-Lanthenay, within the prestigious Hall Hennebique, these days celebrate French culinary art in all its diversity and excellence.
At the heart of the Journées Gastronomiques are national and international culinary competitions that bring together the best professionals in gastronomy. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, chocolatiers, and charcuterie makers compete in high-level challenges before an enthusiastic audience. Many Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF), European champions, and world champions honor the event with their presence, participating in juries or offering live demonstrations.
Visitors can attend culinary demonstrations by renowned chefs, observe their expertise live, and interact with them. These privileged moments offer the chance to discover the secrets of haute cuisine and the techniques of the country's most talented artisans. Conferences and round tables on the challenges of contemporary gastronomy complete the program.
The Journées Gastronomiques host approximately 90 exhibitors — producers and artisans — who present their authentic products at the fair's stands. Sologne is in the spotlight with its emblematic specialties: game, freshwater fish, artisanal charcuterie, honey, asparagus, mushrooms, wines, and liqueurs. But the event also opens up to other terroirs with producers of cheeses, chocolate, foie gras, biscuits, and confectionery from all over France.
Throughout the weekend, visitors are invited to taste the products presented by the exhibitors, discover new flavors, and leave with exceptional products. It's an opportunity to fill one's gourmet basket in anticipation of the year-end holidays and to discover artisans whose quality is nationally recognized.
The Journées Gastronomiques de Sologne contribute to the reputation of Romorantin-Lanthenay and Sologne as exceptional gastronomic destinations. They highlight a unique terroir, rich in its ponds, forests, and centuries-old culinary traditions, while also embracing a dynamic of innovation and excellence driven by gastronomy professionals.
The Journées Gastronomiques de Sologne take place at the Fabrique Normant, 2 avenue François Mitterrand, 41200 Romorantin-Lanthenay, in the Hall Hennebique.
