New wine festival in Amboise
The Touraine Primeur festival is a highly anticipated annual event marking the arrival of new wine in Touraine. Every third Thursday or Friday of November, the town of Amboise hosts this popular celebration on Place Michel Debré, in the heart of the royal city.
Touraine Primeur is a new wine, mainly made from the Gamay grape variety, released for sale on the third Thursday of November. This winemaking tradition, comparable to Beaujolais Nouveau, highlights the expertise of the winemakers of the Touraine appellation. Primeur wine is characterized by its freshness, fruity aromas, and lightness, making it ideal for drinking young. The Amboise festival is an opportunity to discover the different vintages of the year.
From 6 PM to 11 PM, visitors can enjoy a warm and festive atmosphere in the heart of Amboise. Winemakers from the appellation present their productions and offer tastings of the year's vintage. Gastronomic stands offer local Touraine products. The evening is filled with various musical entertainment: hunting horns, the band les Not'en Bull, and the famous Trompes d'Amboise, which give the venue a unique atmosphere.
The Commanderie des Grands Vins d'Amboise actively participates in the event, bringing its solemnity and prestige to this popular festival. This wine brotherhood, a guardian of Amboise's winemaking traditions, contributes to the promotion of Touraine-Amboise appellation wines and perpetuates a centuries-old oenological heritage.
Organized by the City of Amboise, the Touraine Primeur festival is part of the city's festive event calendar. It contributes to the influence of Touraine viticulture and attracts many visitors each year to celebrate the arrival of new wine in an exceptional heritage setting, at the foot of the royal Château d'Amboise.
The 2026 edition of Touraine Primeur will be held on Friday, November 20, 2026, on Place Michel Debré in Amboise. Come celebrate the arrival of new wine in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
