Apples take center stage in Touraine

Every year, on the last Sunday of October, the charming town of Azay-le-Rideau, famous for its Renaissance château, is adorned with autumn colors to host its Foire d'Automne et de la Pomme. This traditional event is one of the most popular gatherings of the season in Indre-et-Loire.

Over 200 exhibitors in the town center

The fair takes over the entire center of Azay-le-Rideau, transforming its streets, squares, and halls into a vast open-air market. More than 200 exhibitors participate each year: apple and apple juice producers, cider makers, nurserymen, market gardeners, beekeepers, cheesemongers, craftspeople, merchants, and local associations. The diversity of stalls offers a rich and varied experience to visitors.

Apples in all their forms

The apple is naturally the star of this fair. Visitors can discover many old and local varieties, taste fresh apples, apple juice pressed on-site, artisanal cider, apple pies, compotes, and other apple-based preparations. Nurserymen offer fruit trees to plant in your garden, perpetuating the Touraine pomological tradition.

Flea market and second-hand sale

The fair is accompanied by a large flea market set up in the parking lot of the halls and on Rue du Lavoir. This flea market attracts bargain hunters and lovers of good deals, adding a friendly and popular dimension to the event. Registration for the flea market is handled by the Comité des Fêtes Ridellois.

Entertainment, funfair, and food

The traditional funfair accompanies the fair, offering rides and attractions for children and families. Numerous food stalls are set up in the town center, offering Touraine menus and seasonal specialties. Musical entertainment, craft demonstrations, and street performances punctuate the day.
