Amplified music festival in Vendôme since 1992
Les Rockomotives is the major amplified music festival in Vendôme, in Loir-et-Cher. Created in 1992, this festival, driven by the association Figures Libres, has established itself as a must-attend event for the pop-rock, new French chanson, and electronic music scene in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Every year at the end of October, for a full week, the festival takes over Vendôme's iconic venues - the Chapelle Saint-Jacques, the Minotaure, and more intimate or unusual spaces - attracting over 5,000 festival-goers with an eclectic program mixing headliners and emerging artists from rock, electro, hip-hop, and pop.
Since 1992, Les Rockomotives have set the rhythm for the town of Vendôme each autumn with a week of concerts and musical discoveries. Driven by the association Figures Libres, this amplified music festival has built a solid reputation over the decades in the fields of pop-rock, new French chanson, and electronic music.
Les Rockomotives offers an eclectic program that mixes rock, electro, pop, hip-hop, chanson, and experimental music. The festival stands out for its ability to book both renowned headliners and promising emerging artists. Among the artists who have graced the Rockomotives stages since their inception are Christine and The Queens, Eddy de Pretto, Jeanne Added, Yann Tiersen, Louise Attaque, Odezenne, and Kompromat, to name but a few.
The festival takes over several iconic venues in the town of Vendôme, creating a unique festival geography:
Les Rockomotives are more than just a festival: they are a major cultural player in the Vendôme region and the Loir-et-Cher department. The Figures Libres association conducts cultural activities throughout the year, with regular concerts, artist residencies, and outreach programs for school audiences and young people.
Created at the initiative of Daniel Chanet, then mayor of Vendôme, and Yves Gendrault, Les Rockomotives began modestly at the cultural center and in the town's bars. Over the years, the festival has grown to become one of the most important cultural events in Loir-et-Cher, attracting over 5,000 festival-goers each year and contributing significantly to Vendôme's cultural influence and local economy.
