Alimenterre Festival in Palluau-sur-Indre: Cinema and Citizen Debate

The Alimenterre Festival is an international event created in 2007 by the CFSI (Comité Français pour la Solidarité Internationale). Each year, from October 15 to November 30, screening-debates are organized throughout France and in sixteen countries around documentary films dealing with sustainable and solidarity-based food systems.

In Palluau-sur-Indre, the association AEP Saint-Sulpice has been organizing film-debates as part of the Alimenterre Festival for several years. Screenings are held at the Salle Mademoiselle Ginette Bourgeault, located at 13 rue des Prunus. The association fully embraces the national festival's philosophy: making reflection on major food issues accessible through documentary cinema and citizen dialogue.

Committed Documentaries and Enriching Debates

Each local edition features the screening of one or more documentary films selected by the festival's national committee. The themes covered are varied and current: peasant agriculture, food sovereignty, the environmental impact of the agri-food industry, fair trade, ecological transition, the right to food. In 2024, the documentary Bienveillance paysanne by Olivier Dickinson was screened, followed by a debate with local speakers.

After each screening, a debate is organized with specialists, farmers, association representatives, and committed citizens. These discussions deepen the themes addressed in the films and build connections among local residents around essential issues.

A Free and Convivial Event

The film-debates organized in Palluau-sur-Indre are free and open to all. Each evening concludes with a convivial reception offered by the association, encouraging informal exchanges among participants.
