Jazz, blues and world music in the historic Fort Kléber
Since 2011, the Wolfi Jazz Festival has taken over the unique setting of Fort Kléber in Wolfisheim, near Strasbourg, every end of June. For five days, two stages—the Esplanade (paid concerts) and the Douves (free programming of emerging talents)—offer a musical journey around jazz, blues, funk, soul, and world music. The 19th-century military fort, with its unique acoustics and history-rich atmosphere, provides an intimate and friendly setting where international artists and discoveries share the stage.
In 2011, the Wolfi Jazz association gave birth to a jazz festival in a rather unexpected location: Fort Kléber, a 19th-century military structure located in Wolfisheim, a residential commune in the immediate suburbs of Strasbourg. The natural acoustics of the moat and the history-rich atmosphere of the fortified enclosure offer an intimate and unique setting that immediately captivates the audience. In fifteen editions, Wolfi Jazz has established itself as a must-attend event on the Alsatian jazz circuit.
The festival is structured around two complementary stages. The Esplanade Stage, outdoors in the heart of the fort, hosts the headliners in the evening: paid concerts featuring jazz, blues, funk, soul, and world music artists in a carefully curated program. The Douves Stage, with free access, is dedicated to emerging talents and discoveries, offering a valuable showcase for the young regional and national music scene.
The 2025 edition celebrated the festival's 15th anniversary with the theme "A Musical Journey Around the World," welcoming internationally renowned artists such as Robert Finley, Thomas Dutronc, Célia Kameni, and Véronique Gayot. Over the years, Wolfi Jazz has hosted musicians from all over the world, confirming its role as a festival open to all musical cultures. The Peacock's Cry Championship, an offbeat and friendly event, has become an unusual highlight of the festival.
Located just 10 kilometers from the center of Strasbourg, Fort Kléber in Wolfisheim is easily accessible by car or public transport. The festival benefits from this proximity to the Alsatian capital while offering the relaxed atmosphere of a human-scale event, far from the urban hustle and bustle. The varied prices—from evening passes to full passes—and the free programming on the Douves stage ensure accessibility for all audiences.
