Corsica, weekend of June 27: an Ajaccio trail and a Nonza village feast

By Christophe Contard — Éditeur web indépendant

The final stretch of the Ajaccio Imperial City Trail and the patron-saint feast of Nonza: a quiet but authentic Corsican Saturday, rounded off by Bonifacio's polyphony.

Let's be honest: this weekend of June 27-28, 2026, is not Corsica's busiest of the year. After the big peak of the Fête de la Musique the previous week, the island catches its breath before the full swing of summer festivals. But two genuinely real events hold the bill this Saturday June 27, one on the sporting side in Ajaccio, the other on the traditional side in Cap Corse. And for anyone staying longer, the polyphony of Bonifacio takes over midweek. Here, without padding the list, is what's really happening this weekend on both sides of the island.

A light weekend, poised between sport and tradition

The programme comes down to two events, both closing on Saturday June 27: the final day of an urban trail in Ajaccio and the close of a village feast in the north. Nothing huge, but two chances to take the pulse of real Corsica, far from the big summer headliners. Sunday stays calm: the ideal moment for the beach, a hike, or a stopover towards a midweek concert.

Ajaccio Imperial City Trail, Ajaccio (until June 27)

For its 42nd edition, the Ajaccio Imperial City Trail wraps up its programme on Saturday June 27 in the imperial city. Founded in 1985, this trail-running event is firmly established in the island's sporting calendar, sending amateurs and seasoned runners alike across the heights and lanes of Ajaccio. Beyond the race itself, the event helps bring the city to life and offers a fine excuse to discover the Gulf of Ajaccio from a sporting angle. Saturday is the last day to enjoy the start-finish atmosphere, the cheering along the course and the buzz in the city centre. A great gateway for anyone wanting to combine an active weekend with a discovery of Napoleon's home town.

Nonza Feast, Nonza (until June 27)

Heading north, to the west coast of Cap Corse, for the Nonza Feast, which also closes on Saturday June 27. Founded in 1966, this patron-saint feast marks its 61st edition this year — about as rooted in village life as it gets. Perched above its famous black-pebble beach and Genoese tower, Nonza brings together residents and visitors around its community tradition, built on shared moments, entertainment and village conviviality. It's the archetype of the seaside Corsican feast, human in scale, far from the saturated tourist circuits. For the visitor, it's a rare window onto the life of a Cap Corse village and one of the island's most beautiful clifftop sites. Saturday is the right day to stop by and wander the village.

If you stay longer: the Polyphonic Thursdays of Bonifacio

No concert during this exact weekend, but worth keeping in mind for anyone staying on the island: the Polyphonic Thursdays of Bonifacio programme a concert every Thursday evening, from April to October, in the Saint-Dominique church of the Haute-Ville. Around thirty evenings per season, renowned island polyphonic groups (Una Fiara Nova, L'Alba, A Filetta…) and the acoustics of a 13th-century Dominican church: it's one of the best entry points into Corsican polyphony in a traditional setting, away from the crowded summer festivals. The next event falls on the Thursday after this weekend — a good reason to extend a stay towards Bonifacio.

Wrap-up

A deliberately light Corsican weekend, dominated by Saturday June 27: the finale of the Ajaccio Imperial City Trail on the sporting side, the patron-saint feast of Nonza on the traditional side, and Bonifacio's polyphony worth flagging for later in the week. We'd rather list what genuinely exists than pad the selection. Looking for more ideas? Check our weekend agenda and compare with other French regions for these same dates.
