Solidarity evening of African music and gastronomy at the foot of Haut-Koenigsbourg
Organized each year by the association Als'Agoué, the African Festival of Kintzheim is a dinner-show evening that transports guests to the heart of West Africa, at the foot of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg. Around a mafé meal prepared by a Beninese chef, participants vibrate to the rhythm of African dances, coupé-décalé, soukous, and reggae. 95% of the profits are donated to the schooling and renovation of schools for children in Benin.
Each year, the village hall of Kintzheim, a small wine-growing village nestled at the foot of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, transforms for an evening into a corner of West Africa. The association Als'Agoué organizes its African Festival, an event that combines gastronomy, music, dance, and international solidarity in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The heart of the evening is the meal, prepared with love by Mireille, a chef from Benin. The main dish, a melting and fragrant chicken mafé, is accompanied by a vegetarian option to satisfy all palates. Traditional Beninese drinks complete the feast: bissap juice (hibiscus flowers), spicy ginger juice, as well as craft beers and Alsatian wines, creating a gustatory bridge between two continents.
The evening comes alive to the sound of African rhythms with an African dance performance by the association Afrika Team from Mackolsheim. Colorful costumes, enchanting percussion, and the infectious energy of the dancers quickly draw the audience onto the dance floor. DJ Nico then takes over for a dance party mixing coupé-décalé, merengué, soukous, and reggae, until the early hours of the morning.
Beyond the celebration, the African Festival of Kintzheim carries a strong commitment to solidarity. 95% of the profits collected during the evening are directly donated to support the schooling of children in Benin, finance school scholarships, and contribute to the renovation of schools. Since its creation, the association Als'Agoué has helped improve the educational conditions of many Beninese children, making this festive evening an act of collective generosity.
The African Festival of Kintzheim illustrates the richness of the Alsatian associative fabric and its ability to build bridges between cultures. In this village on the Wine Route, Africa and Alsace meet for an evening, uniting residents, families, and friends around values of sharing, solidarity, and joy of life.
