International festival of digital art and media arts
Created in 1991, Bandits-Mages is one of the oldest French festivals dedicated to digital and media arts. Born from the initiative of students and teachers from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Bourges, the festival has evolved with technologies while retaining its pioneering and experimental spirit. It has established itself as a place for creation, dissemination, and reflection on new artistic forms using digital media.
Since 2013, the festival has taken the form of annual "Encounters" held in November. These events showcase video works, digital installations, performances, screenings, and multimedia creations by international artists. The Encounters also offer workshops, conferences, and round tables that allow the public to discover the artistic and technical stakes of contemporary digital arts.
Beyond the festival, Bandits-Mages develops an artist residency program throughout the year. The association supports the creation of video works, films, and media creations by providing artists with production and dissemination resources. This dimension of supporting creation makes Bandits-Mages a major player in the development of digital arts in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
The 2026 edition of the Bandits-Mages Encounters will offer a new program of digital and media works exploring contemporary artistic, technological, and societal issues. Exhibitions, performances, and encounters will mark these ten days dedicated to digital arts.
