The 38th edition of the Bastia Italian Film Festival was held from January 31 to February 15, 2026 in Haute-Corse. For over two weeks, the city of Bastia celebrated the best of transalpine cinema with a program of 20 films never before seen in France, tributes, conferences, concerts, and gatherings centered around Italian gastronomy.
Screenings took place in three emblematic venues in the city: the cultural center L'Alb'Oru as well as the cinemas Le Studio and Le Régent. This 2026 edition placed two strong themes at the heart of its program: a tribute to Marcello Mastroianni, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his passing, and an opening day dedicated to the ever-relevant issue of the mafia.
An unmissable event in Corsican cultural life, the Bastia Italian Film Festival celebrated its 38th edition from January 31 to February 15, 2026. Created to introduce the public to the richness and vitality of contemporary Italian cinema, the event annually offers a selection of films never before seen in France, accompanied by conferences, concerts, exhibitions, and convivial moments centered around transalpine culture.
The 2026 edition brought together 20 films never before seen in France, divided into several sections: official competition, panorama of contemporary cinema, youth screenings, as well as two tribute cycles. The festival paid a vibrant tribute to Marcello Mastroianni, thirty years after his death, and to actor Toni Servillo. The opening day was dedicated to the theme of the mafia, including a conference on judge Giovanni Falcone.
Screenings were distributed between the cultural center L'Alb'Oru and the cinemas Le Studio and Le Régent. Each film was screened multiple times over the two weeks, allowing the public to create their own path through the selection.
Beyond the screenings, the festival offered a rich parallel program: conferences by the Dante Alighieri of Bastia, concerts (notably soprano Julia Knecht and her choir on the opening night, then the choirs of the Henri Tomasi Conservatory for the closing), an exhibition of festival posters, literary meetings, and dinner parties hosted by Italian chefs.
The awards were unveiled on Saturday, February 7, 2026, on the stage of L'Alb'Oru. The grand prize awarded « Napoli New-York » by Gabriele Salvatores, based on an original story by Federico Fellini and Tullio Pinelli. The audience award went to « Criature » and the young jury award to « Una Figlia ».
