Festival of eclectic and friendly music in Haute-Loire
The Buena Onda Festival is an eclectic and family-friendly music festival organized every year in May in Sanssac-l'Église, Haute-Loire. Created in 2016 by the Collectif Buena Onda, an association of passionate volunteers, the festival offers two days of concerts mixing rock, reggae, funk, world music, Latin music, indie, and electro in a rural and friendly setting. Located at the village's socio-cultural hall, 10 km from Le Puy-en-Velay, the event brings together families and festival-goers around a program of emerging artists and local bands, accompanied by sports tournaments, pétanque, children's activities, food trucks, and free camping. With its accessible prices and warm atmosphere, the Buena Onda Festival embodies the festive and supportive spirit of the Velay region.
The Buena Onda Festival was born in 2016 in Sanssac-l'Église, a small village in Haute-Loire located about ten kilometers from Le Puy-en-Velay. Driven by the Collectif Buena Onda, an association entirely composed of volunteers, the festival was born from a simple desire: to create a moment of sharing and celebration around music in a rural and authentic setting. Over the years, it has established itself as a must-attend event in the spring in Velay.
Each year, on the last weekend of May, the socio-cultural hall of Sanssac-l'Église and its green spaces are transformed into a human-sized celebration venue. The Buena Onda Festival's programming emphasizes eclecticism: rock, reggae, funk, cumbia, rumba, world music, dub, electro, hip-hop, and Latin music share the stage, both on the main stage and the outdoor stage. The festival favors emerging artists, local bands, and groups with communicative energy, offering a valuable springboard for the regional and national music scene.
Over the years, the Buena Onda Festival has hosted groups such as Radio Tutti feat. Barilla Sisters, Sabaly, Red Cosmic Orchestra, Brésilios, Que Tengo, Les Vieilles Valises, Loopzilla, Groumpf, and Fougaou, confirming its taste for musical discoveries and mixed sounds.
The Buena Onda Festival stands out for its multidisciplinary and family-friendly spirit. Each edition offers a rich program of complementary activities: multi-sports tournaments, pétanque competitions, salsa initiations, pole dance shows, a children's area, an artisan market, food trucks, and a local bar. On Saturday afternoons, an outdoor stage hosts emerging artists and performances in a relaxed setting, before the evening concerts on the main stage.
A free campsite is available for festival-goers, reinforcing the friendly atmosphere and sense of community that characterize the event. With prices ranging from 18 to 30 euros and free entry for children under 12, the festival remains true to its popular and accessible vocation.
Located in Sanssac-l'Église, a commune in Haute-Loire with just over a thousand inhabitants, the Buena Onda Festival contributes to the cultural dynamism of the Velay region. By bringing together hundreds of festival-goers each year in this village near Le Puy-en-Velay, the Collectif Buena Onda proves that music and celebration do not need large cities to exist.
