Three days of eclectic concerts in the heart of the Bugey, Ain
Every year in late May in Saint-Martin-de-Bavel in the Ain, the Bugey en Musique Festival offers three days of eclectic concerts blending rock, pop, French and international pop music, jazz, blues, folk and street brass bands. Organised by the Brass at Home association, this friendly, family-oriented festival welcomes nationally renowned artists and emerging bands in an exceptional rural setting, in the heart of southern Bugey, between mountains and vineyards. The festival delivers a varied programme, accessible to all, in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Since 2021, the Bugey en Musique Festival has been bringing life to the village of Saint-Martin-de-Bavel every spring, in the Ain department, in the heart of southern Bugey. Organised by the Brass at Home association, founded in 2018 following the eponymous festival held from 2016 to 2018, this musical event brings together artists from diverse musical backgrounds over three days: rock, pop, variety, jazz, blues, folk, funk, hip-hop and street brass bands.
The strength of the Bugey en Musique Festival lies in the diversity of its programming. Each edition offers a bold mix of musical genres that appeals to a broad audience. Headline acts from the French and international scene share the stage with emerging bands and local groups, delivering a complete and surprising musical experience. Concerts take place on several stages, from Friday evening through Sunday, in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
The festival spans three days, from Friday to Sunday. Friday evening kicks off the festivities with the first concerts from 6pm. Saturday, the festival's flagship day, offers a continuous programme from noon with concerts running back to back until late in the evening. Sunday provides a more relaxed day, with gates opening mid-afternoon and a closing concert at the end of the day.
Saint-Martin-de-Bavel is a small village nestled in the heart of southern Bugey, amid a landscape of mid-range mountains, vineyards and forests. The festival makes the most of this rural setting to offer a unique outdoor experience. Far from the bustle of big cities, festival-goers enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by the beauty of the Bugey landscapes, between the Grand Colombier and the banks of the Rhône.
The festival is organised by the Brass at Home association, a not-for-profit organisation recognised as being of general interest, founded in 2018. The association was born from the passion of local musicians and volunteers for live music and rural culture. After organising the Brass at Home festival from 2016 to 2018, the team launched the Bugey en Musique project in 2019, with a first edition originally planned for 2020, postponed to 2021 due to the health crisis.
The Bugey en Musique Festival is about more than just concerts. A catering area serves dishes prepared with local produce from the Bugey and the Ain. Refreshment stands and bars allow visitors to cool down between concerts. The atmosphere is decidedly family-friendly and convivial, with children's entertainment and relaxation areas. The festival champions short supply chains and local producers, in a spirit of responsible and community-minded celebration.
Tickets for the Bugey en Musique Festival are available online on the Billetweb platform. Reduced rates are offered for students, under-18s and children under 12.
