The Alfortville Carnival: the celebration at the confluence

The Alfortville Carnival was among the popular festivals of this dynamic Val-de-Marne town, located at the confluence of the Seine and Marne rivers. A town with an industrial and working-class history, Alfortville has developed a dense network of associations and a tradition of neighborhood festivals, of which the spring carnival was one expression.

A parade through the streets of Alfortville

The Alfortville Carnival parade passed through the streets of the city center, from Place du Général de Gaulle or the vicinity of the town hall, towards the main shopping arteries and town squares. The procession brought together floats decorated by associations and leisure centers, brass bands and street orchestras, batucadas, dance troupes, and numerous costumed participants. Confetti, streamers, and lively music created an atmosphere of collective jubilation.

The multicultural dimension of Alfortville

A cosmopolitan town, Alfortville saw its carnival reflect this diversity: associations from the town's many communities brought their carnival traditions and costumes to the parade, blending Antillean, African, Asian, and European influences.

Schools and youth
