Celtic music comes to Ardèche
Celt'in Boffres was born in 2022 from the passion of two Celtic music lovers, supported by the association RDB — Radio des Boutières, an Ardèche-based community radio station that has been producing and broadcasting local programs for 40 years. The festival takes place in a historic location: the ruins of the Château de Boffres, perched at the top of the village, offering an exceptional panorama of the Ardèche mountains.
Renowned Celtic bands
Despite its "mini-festival" format, Celt'in Boffres offers a quality program with renowned bands from the Celtic scene:
- Transpher — Energetic Celtic rock
- Eanair — Traditional Celtic folk
- Mo Cuishle — Irish folk song
- Irish Tap and Dance — Irish dance and tap dancing
- Nataverne, Triskeelt, Cauldron — Bands from previous editions
Immediate popular success
From its first edition in June 2022, the festival attracted over 800 spectators, a remarkable result for a nascent event in a rural area. The second edition in September 2023 confirmed its success with over 700 spectators. The third edition was held on September 7, 2024, with a program mixing Celtic rock, traditional folk, and Irish dance.
Boffres, land of music and heritage
The village of Boffres is an old fortified feudal town from the 12th century, of which the remains of the pink granite circular keep still exist. Boffres is also known for its musical heritage: the composer Vincent d'Indy had his castle built there in the 19th century. The festival is part of this musical tradition by bringing a Celtic touch to this mountain village. The event brings together about sixty local volunteers, strengthening ties between residents and creating a strong community dynamic.
