Chalma'Fest: High-altitude celebration in the Monts du Forez
Created in 2023 by the Club des Jeunes de Chalmazel-Jeansagnière, Chalma'Fest is an open-air music festival held at La Madone, over 1,100 meters above sea level in the Monts du Forez. This biennial festival was born from the desire of about fifteen young villagers to revitalize their region and show that rural culture can shine.
An exceptional mountain setting
The festival takes place at La Madone, 487 route de Sauvain, in the heart of the mountain resort of Chalmazel-Jeansagnière. Amidst fir forests and high-altitude pastures, festival-goers enjoy a unique panorama of the Forez ridges and the Loire plain. The site offers free camping and a mountain 'guinguette' atmosphere with food trucks, a bar, and craft stalls.
An eclectic and festive program
True to its spirit of popular celebration, Chalma'Fest offers a varied program mixing folk rock, rap, pop, rock, and DJ sets. The festival showcases artists who know how to bring the audience together in a collective communion. Bands entertain throughout the evening, moving between the stage, the bar, and the 'guinguette' area. The evening concludes with a Bal XXL hosted by a local DJ.
An eco-responsible and supportive festival
Chalma'Fest is an engaged eco-festival. Organizers implement waste sorting and recycling, cigarette butt recovery for heating, and create all decorations from second-hand objects. The festival is accessible to people with reduced mobility, with dedicated facilities throughout the site, from parking to camping and the performance area. A medical first-aid station is present on site.
Driven by youth and volunteers
Organized by the Club des Jeunes de Chalmazel-Jeansagnière, formerly known as 'Conscrits de Chalmazel-Jeansagnière', the festival mobilizes around 150 volunteers. These young people, aged 16 to 24 and all from the village, are supported by volunteers of all ages to bring this event to life. An artisanal beer is brewed specifically for the festival in partnership with the La Canaille brewery, and local specialties like patia forézienne are offered for tasting.
