France's greenest festival at the foot of Crussol Castle
Crussol Festival is a music festival created in 2017 on the initiative of singer Zaz, in Saint-Péray in Ardèche. It is held at the Théâtre de Verdure du Château de Crussol, a Natura 2000 listed site offering a spectacular view of the Rhône valley. The programming mixes pop, rock, French chanson, reggae, and world music in an exceptional natural setting. After a break in 2025, the festival returns in 2026 to a new site, La Maladière.
Crussol Festival was created in 2017 on the initiative of singer Zaz, who is from the region. Passionate about Ardèche and keen to offer a musical event in an exceptional natural setting, she imagined a festival at the foot of Château de Crussol, a ruined medieval fortress perched on the heights of Saint-Péray, facing the Rhône valley and the Valence plain.
For seven editions, the festival was held at the Théâtre de Verdure, a natural amphitheater located in the limestone massif of Crussol, in a Natura 2000 zone. This listed site offers an exceptional panorama of the Rhône valley, the Saint-Péray vineyards, and the Vercors mountains in the background. Concerts at sunset, with the castle ruins overlooking the scene, make for an unforgettable visual spectacle.
Each edition offers an eclectic program featuring pop, rock, French chanson, reggae, and world music. The 2024 edition notably hosted Louane, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Julian Marley, Keziah Jones, Pierre de Maere, and Féfé. The festival is known for its friendly atmosphere and its ability to blend established artists with emerging talents.
Crussol Festival claims to be the greenest festival in France. Committed to an exemplary sustainable development approach, it implements concrete actions: zero waste, compostable tableware, organic and local food, renewable energy, soft mobility, and public awareness. This environmental policy is at the heart of the festival's identity.
After seven editions at the foot of Crussol Castle, the festival announced a break in 2025 to prepare for its move to a new site: La Maladière. This decision aims to preserve the Natura 2000 listed site of the Crussol massif and to welcome festival-goers in a more suitable and secure space. The return is scheduled for July 2026.
The 8th edition of Crussol Festival is confirmed for July 2026 at a new site: La Maladière. The festival returns after a break in 2025 due to the move to preserve the Natura 2000 site of Crussol Castle.
The festival takes place in Saint-Péray (07130), on the heights of the town, opposite Valence.
