A festival born from Zaz's initiative
The Crussol Festival was created in 2017 at the initiative of singer Zaz, who is from the region. Passionate about Ardèche and keen to offer a musical event in an exceptional natural setting, she envisioned a festival at the foot of Château de Crussol, a ruined medieval fortress perched on the heights of Saint-Péray, facing the Rhône Valley and the Valence plain.
The Théâtre de Verdure, a unique natural setting
For seven editions, the festival was held at the Théâtre de Verdure, a natural amphitheater located in the limestone massif of Crussol, in a Natura 2000 zone. This classified site offers an exceptional panorama of the Rhône Valley, the Saint-Péray wine hillsides, and the Vercors in the background. Concerts at sunset, with the castle ruins overlooking, provided an unforgettable visual spectacle.
A pop-rock and French chanson program
Each edition offers an eclectic program centered around pop, rock, French chanson, reggae, and world music. The 2024 edition notably welcomed Louane, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Julian Marley, Keziah Jones, Pierre de Maere, and Féfé. The festival stands out for its friendly atmosphere and its ability to blend established artists with new discoveries.
France's greenest festival
The Crussol Festival claims to be France's greenest festival. Committed to an exemplary sustainable development approach, it implements concrete actions: zero waste, compostable tableware, organic and local food, renewable energy, soft mobilities, and public awareness. This environmental policy is at the heart of the festival's identity.
A relocation to preserve the site and grow
After seven editions at the foot of Château de Crussol, the festival announced a break in 2025 to rethink its model and prepare for its relocation. This civic pause led to a co-construction process with festival-goers, volunteers, and partners. The festival returns on June 4, 5 and 6, 2026 at a new site, the La Maladière stadium in Saint-Péray, to preserve the Natura 2000 classified site of the Crussol massif and welcome the public in a more adapted and secure space.
