Open-air photography festival on the Grand Site des Deux-Caps
Created in 2022 by the Maison du Site des Deux-Caps, the Deux-Caps Photos Festival is a unique photographic event that annually displays over 250 large-format photographs outdoors across the communes of the Grand Site de France des Deux-Caps. From May to November, about twenty professional photographers exhibit their works on the coastal paths, cliffs, dunes, and villages, offering a striking dialogue between the image and the landscape. A photo marathon, artist encounters, and workshops complete this six-month event.
The Deux-Caps Photos Festival is a singular photographic event that transforms the Grand Site de France des Deux-Caps into a vast open-air gallery. Since 2022, from May to November, over 250 large-format photographs are displayed outdoors across 14 communes along the Opal Coast, between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez.
The exhibitions are spread across the communes of the Grand Site: Wissant, Sangatte-Blériot-Plage, Escalles, Tardinghen, Audinghen, Audresselles, Ambleteuse, and Wimereux, among others. The photographs, printed in very large format, are installed on outdoor supports along the paths, in village squares, facing the sea, or in the dunes.
Each edition invites about twenty professional photographers who exhibit their perspectives on nature, landscapes, fauna, and flora. The themes are varied: wildlife photography, seascapes, macro photography, nature portraits, aerial photography. The dialogue between the images and the landscapes they represent or border creates a unique visual experience.
The festival opens with an inaugural weekend in May, during which visitors can meet the photographers and discuss their techniques and artistic approaches. It's a special time for sharing between artists and photography enthusiasts.
The Photo Marathon, organized during the Ascension weekend, is a participatory event open to all. Amateur and experienced photographers explore the Grand Site des Deux-Caps in search of the most beautiful images, in a spirit of conviviality and discovery.
One of the festival's unique features is its exceptional duration: from May to November, the exhibitions remain in place, allowing walkers and tourists to discover them throughout the season. The route can be done on foot, by bike, or by car, offering an original way to explore the Grand Site des Deux-Caps.
The Grand Site de France des Deux-Caps is one of the most remarkable natural sites on the French coast. Its spectacular cliffs, wild dunes, vast beaches, and charming villages provide a perfect setting for nature and landscape photography.
