The Deux-Caps Photos Festival is a unique photographic event that transforms the Grand Site de France des Deux-Caps into an immense open-air gallery. Initiated in 2021 by the Département du Pas-de-Calais, every two years, from May to November, it displays over 250 large-format photographs outdoors across the coastal communes of the Côte d'Opale, between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez.
The exhibitions are spread across the communes of the Grand Site: Wissant, Sangatte-Blériot-Plage, Escalles, Tardinghen, Audinghen, Audresselles, Ambleteuse, and Wimereux, among others. The photographs, printed in very large format, are installed on outdoor supports along paths, in village squares, facing the sea, or in the dunes. Each edition brings together between 20 and 25 exhibitions, seen by an average of 800,000 visitors.
Each edition invites around twenty local, national, and international photographers who showcase their perspectives on nature, landscapes, fauna, and flora. The themes are varied: wildlife photography, marine landscapes, macro photography, nature portraits, aerial photography. The dialogue between the images and the landscapes they represent or adjoin creates a unique visual experience.
The festival opens with an inaugural weekend in May, during which visitors can meet the photographers and discuss their techniques and artistic approaches. It is a privileged moment of sharing between artists and photography enthusiasts.
The Photo Marathon, organized during the Ascension weekend, is a participatory event open to all. Amateur and experienced photographers explore the Grand Site des Deux-Caps in search of the most beautiful images, in a spirit of conviviality and discovery.
One of the festival's unique features is its exceptional duration: from May to November, the exhibitions remain in place, allowing walkers and tourists to discover them throughout the season. The route can be explored on foot, by bike, or by car, offering an original way to discover the Grand Site des Deux-Caps.
