Practical information — Christmas in Domfront

Access to Domfront

By car: Domfront-en-Poiraie is located 60 km west of Alençon via the D962. From Flers, follow the D962 west (20 km, about 25 minutes). From Caen, take the A84 towards Rennes, then exit at Villedieu-les-Poêles and follow the D977 (about 1h30). From Rennes, take the A84 towards Caen, then exit at Saint-James (about 1h30). Free parking is available in the lower and upper towns, with pedestrian access to the medieval center.

By train: Domfront does not have a train station. The nearest stations are Briouze (25 km, Paris-Granville line) and Flers (20 km, TER Normandie). A vehicle is necessary from these stations. Taxis are available by reservation.

Location of Festivities

The Christmas Market and entertainment take place in the medieval center of Domfront, in the upper town. The medieval city, with its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and the ruins of the keep, provides an exceptional backdrop for the winter festivities. The market is set up in the main square and adjacent streets.

Opening Hours

The market is generally held over one to two weekends in December. The torchlight procession takes place in the evening (starting at 6 PM).
