Christmas market in the medieval halls of the episcopal city
Sées, an ancient episcopal city in Orne, is dominated by the slender silhouette of its Cathédrale Notre-Dame, a masterpiece of Norman Gothic art whose two spires rise over 70 meters. This exceptional architectural heritage — cathedral, former episcopal palace, Saint-Martin abbey, canon houses — gives the city a special charm, enhanced by Christmas illuminations.
It is in this historic setting that the Christmas Market of Sées takes place every December, an event eagerly awaited by the inhabitants and visitors of the region.
The market is held in the halls of Sées, offering a warm shelter from the December chill. The stands of artisans and producers are displayed in a festive and bright atmosphere, conducive to strolling and Christmas shopping.
The exhibitors offer a varied selection:
The Christmas Market is accompanied by activities that delight families: visits from Santa Claus, creative workshops for children, Christmas carols, and cathedral illuminations. A catering area offers mulled wine, hot chocolate, and winter specialties to warm up between purchases.
The cozy atmosphere of the halls, the sparkling lights, and the scents of cinnamon and gingerbread create an authentically Norman ambiance, far from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
The Christmas Market is an opportunity to (re)discover Sées, its illuminated cathedral, its historic streets, and its religious heritage. Visitors can extend their visit with a stroll through the old town and explore local crafts in the city's shops.
The Christmas Market of Sées will be held on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, 2026 in the halls of Sées.
Local artisans, producers, and creators will offer gift ideas, decorations, delicacies, and local products in the warm atmosphere of the episcopal city's halls. Activities for children, Santa Claus, and mulled wine will complete the program.
Sées is located in the center of Orne, about 20 km north of Alençon.
