Every year from late November to early January, the Dunkirk Christmas Market, dubbed 'Dunkerque la Féerique', transforms Place Jean-Bart into an enchanted village. Traditional chalets, a Ferris wheel, an outdoor ice rink, Santa's Castle at the Town Hall, a luminous parade, and a poetic trail of light installations: Dunkirk's Christmas festivities offer a rich and family-friendly program for over a month. The spectacular descent of Santa Claus from the Town Hall facade marks the launch of this magical period.
For many years, the city of Dunkirk has adorned itself with its finest attire for the end-of-year celebrations. The Dunkirk Christmas Market, known as 'Dunkerque la Féerique', is the beating heart of these festivities. Located on Place Jean-Bart, at the foot of the statue of the famous privateer, it offers a complete and enchanting Christmas experience.

The Christmas festivities in Dunkirk extend for over a month, from late November to early January. Each weekend brings its share of surprises: shows, workshops for children, concerts, and street entertainment. The entire city is adorned in Christmas colors, with spectacular illuminations on heritage buildings and in the shopping streets.

By train: Dunkirk station (TGV and TER from Lille in 40 min). The market is a 10-minute walk from the station, via Rue Clemenceau.
By car: Dunkirk is accessible via the A25 from Lille (1h) or the A16. Parking in the city center near Place Jean-Bart.
By bus: DK'Bus network, stops near Place Jean-Bart.

Monday to Thursday and Sunday: 12 PM - 8 PM. Friday and Saturday: 12 PM - 9 PM. December 24th and 31st: 12 PM - 5:30 PM. Closed on December 25th and January 1st.
Market access is free. The ice rink, Ferris wheel, sledding run, and Santa's Castle have a fee (modest prices). Consult the Dunkirk Tourism website for detailed prices.
Place Jean-Bart and the market aisles are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The Ferris wheel has an adapted gondola. Santa's Castle at the Town Hall is accessible by elevator. For the ice rink, adapted chair-sleds are available upon request.
Dunkirk has several hotels in the city center, in immediate proximity to Place Jean-Bart. Bed and breakfasts and short-term rentals are also available. Dunkirk station, served by TGV and TER, is a 10-minute walk from the market.
The Dunkirk Christmas Market is a very family-friendly event. Santa's Castle, the sledding run, the Fir Tree Carousel, and the Christmas Parade are highlights for children. Specific activities are offered on Wednesdays and weekends.
