Medieval-fantasy festival in Bruguières (Haute-Garonne) — 5 days dedicated to imaginary cultures: folk/Celtic/medieval concerts, craft market with 150 creators, Village of Legends, book fair, and family entertainment.
Échos et Merveilles is the major medieval-fantasy festival in the Toulouse region, organized annually in Bruguières (Haute-Garonne) by the association Les Chevaliers du Roi Mundis. Created in 2017, the festival celebrates Imaginary Cultures: folk, Celtic, medieval, pagan, and Nordic music on stage, as well as a craft market with 150 creators from all over France, the Village of Legends with free daytime access, an imaginary literature book fair with around a hundred authors and illustrators, entertainment troupes, reenactments, role-playing games, and numerous family activities. The event, which takes place over 5 days at Le Bascala and on the 5-hectare park of the leisure center, attracts nearly 25,000 visitors each edition.
In just a few years, Échos et Merveilles has become one of the main medieval-fantasy events in the southern half of France. Organized every spring in Bruguières, Haute-Garonne, about twenty minutes north of Toulouse, the festival celebrates Imaginary Cultures in all their forms: folk, Celtic, medieval, pagan, and Nordic music, Arthurian legends, Celtic myths, Nordic sagas, and fantasy universes.
The festival's main stage, located inside Le Bascala, hosts concerts every evening by French and international bands from the folk metal, Celtic, medieval, and fantasy scenes. Previous editions have featured headliners such as Eivor, Skáld, Korpiklaani, In Extremo, Eluveitie, The Rumjacks, Patty Gurdy, Celkilt, Luc Arbogast, Neko Light Orchestra and many emerging acts. Two other stages (Open Air and Scène du Lac) extend the outdoor program.
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers a huge craft market with 150 creators from all over France: leather goods, jewelry, costumes, cutlery, medicinal plants, calligraphy, cabinet of curiosities, artisanal spirits, wooden creations, games, and role-playing accessories. The Imaginary Literature Book Fair brings together nearly a hundred authors and illustrators for signing sessions, conferences, and public meetings.
During the day, the 5-hectare park of the leisure center transforms into the Village of Legends, accessible all day to the whole family (no age limit). Here you'll find professional historical and fantasy reenactment troupes, costumed parades and wanderings, shows and demonstrations (sword fighting, dances, storytelling), as well as numerous participatory activities: Troll Ball, live-action role-playing games, board games, medieval and oriental archery, axe throwing, iron throne, escape games, murder parties, treasure hunts, children's initiations.
About twenty restaurateurs are present during the day, and several food trucks offer thematic cuisines and regional specialties related to the festival's universe, in a friendly medieval tavern atmosphere.
The festival is entirely run by the association Les Chevaliers du Roi Mundis, a non-profit organization (loi 1901) founded in Bruguières by a collective of Toulouse musicians passionate about Imaginary Cultures. The first edition took place in January 2017 with two evenings of concerts; the festival has gradually expanded to now occupy 5 days and the 5 hectares of the park, with a completely free daytime section.
The 8th edition of the Échos et Merveilles Festival was held from Wednesday, May 13 to Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Bruguières (Haute-Garonne), at Bascala and on the leisure base. 5 days dedicated to Imaginary Cultures with folk/Celtic/medieval concerts, a craft market of 150 creators, a free-access Village des Légendes, and a fantasy book fair.
