About Fête de Saint-Gaudens

The Fête de Saint-Gaudens (also called Saint-Gaudens en Fête) is the great traditional festival of the sub-prefecture of Comminges, in Haute-Garonne. For more than a week in early September, the city comes alive to the rhythm of the funfair set up on the boulevards, popular dances animated by orchestras, shows, sports activities, a grand cavalcade and a closing fireworks display fired from the Boulevard des Pyrénées.

Organised by the City of Saint-Gaudens, the event is entirely free and gathers every year the inhabitants of Saint-Gaudens as well as those from the surrounding communes of Comminges and the Pyrenean foothills.

An institution of Comminges since 1947

The Fête de Saint-Gaudens is one of the major popular events in the south of Haute-Garonne. It traditionally takes place in early September and spans about ten days, including two weekends. The 80th edition is scheduled from September 4 to 13, 2026.

A funfair in the heart of the city

Throughout the event, a large funfair sets up in the city centre: rides for young and old, thrill attractions, confectionery and game stalls take over the boulevards and squares.

Cavalcade, balls and fireworks

Traditional highlights punctuate the evenings:

  • The cavalcade, a costumed parade with floats and brass bands, descends Boulevard Charles-de-Gaulle on a Saturday evening;
  • Several free popular balls follow one another in Place Jean-Jaurès, animated by guest orchestras (variety, musette, 80s, thematic musical shows);
  • The closing fireworks display is fired on the second Saturday evening from Boulevard des Pyrénées.

Activities for all audiences

During the day, the festival also offers family and sports activities: fishing competition at Lac de Sède, pétanque competition at the boulodrome, children's shows, reception offered to the public in the cloister of the collegiate church with music.
