Museum Night in Perpignan: A Nocturnal Cultural Experience
Every year in May, the European Museum Night invites the public to rediscover Perpignan's museums for free from a new perspective, at night. From the afternoon until 11 PM, the city's museum institutions offer a rich and eclectic program combining unusual tours, workshops, performances, and thematic trails.
Participating Museums
Four Perpignan museums are participating in the event:
- Hyacinthe Rigaud Museum of Art: Perpignan's fine arts museum offers nocturnal tours led by art history students, mini-workshops in the galleries, screenings on the courtyard facades, and dance and theater performances.
- Joseph Puig Museum of Coins and Medals: Discover the coins that circulated in Perpignan throughout its thousand-year history.
- Casa Pairal: The museum of Catalan popular arts and traditions in the heart of Le Castillet.
- Natural History Museum: Exhibitions on minerals, local biodiversity, and observations with UV lamps.
An Original and Participatory Program
The Museum Night in Perpignan stands out for the originality of its programming. The 2025 edition at the Rigaud Museum, titled "In the Intimacy of the Collections", featured tours of the reserves, screenings on the facades, dance performances, and musical and theatrical sketches. At the Natural History Museum, visitors could observe the colors of stones in the dark using UV lamps.
A Free and Unifying Event
Museum Night is a moment of cultural sharing open to all, free and without reservation (subject to availability). The event attracts a family and intergenerational audience, curious to experience museums in a different way.
