Traveling and free short film festival in the Pyrénées-Orientales
Courts Circuit 66 is a traveling and free short film festival created in 2020, based in Céret in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Driven by five founding values — itinerancy, quality, freeness, local synergies, and openness to the world — the festival travels every summer through about thirty towns in the department and neighboring Spanish cities, offering screenings of international short films, meetings with directors, concerts, readings, and tastings of local products. The festival includes an international competition and a section dedicated to films shot in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Created in 2020, Courts Circuit 66 is a traveling and free festival that brings short films to the villages and cultural venues of the Pyrénées-Orientales and Catalan Empordà. Based in Céret, the eponymous association promotes film distribution and creation through festivals and actions in schools.
Every summer, from mid-August to the end of September, the festival travels through thirty towns in the Pyrénées-Orientales and five Spanish cities, offering open-air screenings or in heritage sites. This itinerancy allows it to reach a large and diverse audience, from the plains of Roussillon to the valleys of Conflent and Vallespir, as well as the Vermilion Coast and Cerdagne.
The festival is structured around two main events: the international competition, which presents a selection of short films from around the world reflecting cultural diversity and new trends in short filmmaking, and Courts en territoire, a unique section dedicated to films shot exclusively in the Pyrénées-Orientales, followed by discussions with the filmmakers. All competitive screenings are translated into Catalan, in addition to French.
Beyond the screenings, Courts Circuit 66 offers meetings, concerts, performances, readings, and tastings of Catalan regional products. The festival is a place for sharing and discovery, rooted in the values of freeness and accessibility, where cinema becomes a pretext for encounters between artists, residents, and visitors.
