About FARSe

Every late summer, FARSe takes over the squares, quays, and streets of Strasbourg for three days of completely free street performances. Circus, theater, dance, music, and artistic performances take over the city's iconic locations — Place Kléber, Bassin Austerlitz, Petite France — transforming public space into a living stage. Since its creation in 2015, the festival has made cultural democratization its primary mission, offering everyone free access to contemporary creation in a festive and popular atmosphere.

Street Art in the Heart of Strasbourg

FARSe — Strasbourg Eurometropole Street Arts Festival — was born in 2015 from the City of Strasbourg's desire to bring street arts to life in public spaces. Heir to the "Les arts dans la rue" festival, FARSe has taken up and amplified this mission: to democratize art by making it accessible to all, for free. In a decade, it has established itself as one of the highlights of the Alsatian cultural summer.

Sixty Performances Over Three Days

Each year, FARSe programs around sixty performances over three days, from Friday to Sunday. Disciplines mix and blend: aerial circus, street theater, contemporary dance, roaming brass bands, giant puppets, clowning, acrobatic performances, and interactive shows. Each edition holds surprises: unexpected processions, spectacular appearances, and moments of urban poetry.

Strasbourg's Most Beautiful Squares as Stages

The festival transforms the city's most emblematic locations into ephemeral stages: Place Kléber hosts the most spectacular shows, Place Grimmeissen buzzes with intimate performances, the Bassin Austerlitz offers an aquatic setting for circus arts, and Place Hans-Jean-Arp and Place du Château complete this open-air artistic route. The FARSe Village, set up in the courtyard of the Manufacture des Tabacs in the heart of the Krutenau district, is the festive meeting point for all spectators.

Ten Years of Popular Celebration

In 2025, FARSe celebrated its 10th anniversary with a jubilant edition. Ten years of free shows, encounters between artists and audiences, and shared moments of wonder in public spaces. The festival has successfully built a loyal and diverse audience — families, students, tourists, local residents — and has become an anticipated event of the Strasbourg cultural season.

A Commitment to Contemporary Creation

Beyond entertainment, FARSe supports contemporary street arts creation. The festival showcases emerging companies alongside established troupes, providing a platform for artistic forms often unknown to the general public. It is this combination of artistic excellence and popular accessibility that makes FARSe unique.
