The free festival that turns Strasbourg into an open-air stage
FARSe — Strasbourg Eurometropole Street Arts Festival — was born in 2015 from the City of Strasbourg's desire to bring street arts to life in public spaces. Heir to the "Les arts dans la rue" festival, FARSe has taken up and amplified this mission: to democratize art by making it accessible to all, for free. In a decade, it has established itself as one of the highlights of the Alsatian cultural summer.
Each year, FARSe programs around sixty performances over three days, from Friday to Sunday. Disciplines mix and blend: aerial circus, street theater, contemporary dance, roaming brass bands, giant puppets, clowning, acrobatic performances, and interactive shows. Each edition holds surprises: unexpected processions, spectacular appearances, and moments of urban poetry.
The festival transforms the city's most emblematic locations into ephemeral stages: Place Kléber hosts the most spectacular shows, Place Grimmeissen buzzes with intimate performances, the Bassin Austerlitz offers an aquatic setting for circus arts, and Place Hans-Jean-Arp and Place du Château complete this open-air artistic route. The FARSe Village, set up in the courtyard of the Manufacture des Tabacs in the heart of the Krutenau district, is the festive meeting point for all spectators.
In 2025, FARSe celebrated its 10th anniversary with a jubilant edition. Ten years of free shows, encounters between artists and audiences, and shared moments of wonder in public spaces. The festival has successfully built a loyal and diverse audience — families, students, tourists, local residents — and has become an anticipated event of the Strasbourg cultural season.
Beyond entertainment, FARSe supports contemporary street arts creation. The festival showcases emerging companies alongside established troupes, providing a platform for artistic forms often unknown to the general public. It is this combination of artistic excellence and popular accessibility that makes FARSe unique.
The 11th edition of FARSe is scheduled from August 28 to 30, 2026. The festival will continue to transform Strasbourg's squares into open-air stages with a 100% free program. Detailed program coming soon.
