Berd'huis: A Village in Perche That Loves Books

Berd'huis, a small commune in Perche Ornais, is nestled in a landscape of rolling hills, hedgerows, and stone manors. This rural area, favored by artists and writers for its tranquility and beauty, has hosted a book fair for over a decade, which has now become part of the village's cultural identity.

The association Berd'huis Arts et Culture passionately supports this project, driven by the conviction that literature and reading are essential vectors for social connection and openness to the world, even in rural areas.

Norman and National Authors Gathered

The Berd'huis Book Fair hosts around thirty authors each year with diverse universes:

• Novelists: contemporary fiction, historical novels, crime novels
• Comic strip authors: comics, manga, graphic novels
• Poets: contemporary and classical poetry
• Youth authors: illustrated albums, novels for children and teenagers
• Essayists: essays, documents, travelogues

The selection blends Norman authors attached to the Perche region and national authors invited for the quality of their works. Local and regional publishing houses are also represented.

The spirit of the fair is based on proximity between authors and readers. Each author present has a signing space where they can engage in lengthy discussions with visitors, present their works, and share their passion for writing.
