Festisol Chartres: Solidarity in Action
The Festisol - Chartres Festival of Solidarities is more than just a festival: it's a collective movement that brings together associations, citizens, schools, and cultural actors every autumn around the values of solidarity, openness to the world, and social justice.
An Engaged Collective
The festival is driven by the Collectif Solidarité Chartrain, co-led by the Ligue de l'enseignement d'Eure-et-Loir, and composed of about fifteen local associations committed to international solidarity and citizenship. This collective dynamic allows for a diverse program rooted in local realities.
Over Twenty Years of Commitment
As part of the national Festival des Solidarités movement — a project led by the CRID (Center for Research and Information for Development) — the Chartres Festisol has upheld a tradition of popular education and awareness of international issues for over twenty years. Each edition focuses on a specific theme related to major contemporary challenges.
A Multidisciplinary and Engaged Program
The Chartres Festisol program skillfully blends culture and civic engagement:
- Live performances: theater, music, artistic performances that question our relationship with the world
- Screenings and debates: documentaries followed by discussions with directors, experts, and field actors
- Conferences and round tables: meetings with specialists on development, environment, and human rights issues
- Participatory workshops: fun and educational activities for all ages
- Concerts: world music and engaged artists
Environment and People's Rights
The 2024 edition of the Chartres Festisol revolved around the theme “Environment and People's Rights,” offering eight major events, from the theatrical performance “Né quelpart” at the opening to a solidarity day at COMPA, the Conservatory of Agriculture, including screenings and debates on environmental issues and human rights.
The festival is aimed at both the general public and school groups, with specific programs for local schools, thus contributing to global citizenship education for younger generations.
