Festival of storytelling and young audiences in the Mantois
Every autumn, the "Tu contes pour moi !" festival makes the Mantois region vibrate to the rhythm of stories and imagination. Organized by the City of Mantes-la-Ville, this traveling storytelling festival unfolds from October to November in eight towns in the area — Mantes-la-Ville, Buchelay, Limay, Guerville, Rosny-sur-Seine, Aubergenville, Magnanville, and Saint-Martin-la-Garenne — with around forty entirely free performances. Traditional tales, contemporary creations, puppets, and participatory shows: a demanding and joyful program led by a dozen artists from all over France, for an audience of all ages, from toddlers to adults.
Since 2018, the "Tu contes pour moi !" festival has made the Mantois region a territory of storytelling and living word. Supported by the City of Mantes-la-Ville and the Grand Paris Seine et Oise urban community, this traveling festival celebrates the art of storytelling in all its forms: traditional tales, contemporary creations, puppet shows, musical performances, and participatory storytelling.
One of the unique features of "Tu contes pour moi !" is its traveling nature. For three weeks, from October to November, shows take place in the media libraries, schools, cultural centers, and community spaces of eight towns in the Mantois region: Mantes-la-Ville, Buchelay, Limay, Guerville, Rosny-sur-Seine, Aubergenville, Magnanville, and Saint-Martin-la-Garenne. This territorial presence allows it to reach a large and diverse audience, including in areas far from the usual cultural offerings.
The festival is aimed at all audiences, from toddlers to adults. Each edition offers around forty performances by a dozen storytellers from all over France. The program blends genres and styles with constant artistic rigor: fairy tales, adventure stories, wisdom tales, puppet shows, musical storytelling, and immersive performances.
The shows are carefully adapted for different age groups: sessions for 0-6 year olds (introduction to speech and storytelling), for 5-8 year olds and 8 years and over, up to storytelling evenings for adult audiences. This attention to matching the work with its audience is the festival's strength and reputation.
True to its commitment to accessibility, "Tu contes pour moi !" is completely free. Reservations can be made directly with the host venues or by email to the festival address. This free access allows families who might not otherwise be able to afford paid cultural events to discover professional-quality shows close to their homes.
Each edition is placed under the patronage of a personality from the world of storytelling. The 2025 edition was sponsored by France Quatromme, a storyteller, children's author, and trainer for over twenty years, who brought her perspective and sensitivity to the programming. This patronage system ensures continuous artistic renewal and an openness to the most vibrant currents of contemporary storytelling.
The 9th edition of the "Tu contes pour moi !" festival will be held from October to November 2026 in the towns of the Mantois region. The festival will once again offer around forty free performances of storytelling, puppets, and participatory shows for all ages, led by storytellers from all over France.
