Métaphore: Gisors' Contemporary Art Fair
The Métaphore Contemporary Art Fair is an annual artistic event organized in Gisors, in the heart of Vexin Normand, in the Eure department. Created in 2021 by an association of art enthusiasts, this fair aims to promote contemporary creation in all its forms: painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and mixed media.
A Panorama of Norman Contemporary Creation
Each edition brings together a dozen carefully selected artists, from Normandy and other regions. The fair offers an eclectic panorama of the current artistic scene, blending figurative and abstract styles, pictorial traditions, and contemporary plastic research. Visitors can admire canvases, metal or clay sculptures, art ceramics, photographic prints, and mixed-media creations, testifying to the vitality and diversity of Norman artistic creation.
A Place for Exchange and Meeting
The spirit of Métaphore is based on direct interaction between artists and the public. The Friday evening vernissage is a special moment for exchange, in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Throughout the weekend, artists are present on-site to explain their approach, share their passion, and engage in dialogue with visitors. Demonstrations of artistic techniques are sometimes offered, allowing the public to better understand the creative process.
Gisors' Multi-purpose Hall: A Showcase for Art
The fair is held in the Gisors multi-purpose hall, located at 78 rue du Faubourg de Neaufles. This bright and modular space allows for careful presentation of the works, offering artists optimal exhibition conditions. Gisors, a historic town dominated by its imposing Norman fortress and its Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais church, provides a remarkable heritage setting for this cultural event.
An Event Supported by the Local Community
The Métaphore Fair benefits from the support of the City of Gisors and local partners such as Crédit Mutuel, Boulangerie du Cappeville, and La Lunette Jaune. This local anchoring demonstrates the event's importance for the cultural life of the territory. Admission is free, making contemporary art accessible to the greatest number.
Artists with Multiple Talents
Over the years, the fair has hosted numerous artists with diverse universes: Myriam Bellanger, Nathalie Briet-Henry, Horacio Cassinelli, Ise Cellier, Thierry Eusèbe, Emmanuel Harou, Jérôme Le Goff, Richard Riège Gosselin, Ysabelle Roby-Pétrel, Frédéric Tran, and many others. This diversity of talent ensures that each edition offers new artistic proposals and discoveries for visitors.
